Price: $10.00

Product Information

Six of the most idiomatic etudes from this famous collection. Some of the techniques focused on by these Estudios lead one to believe that they were written for the student of marimba, rather than guitar. The pieces can be performed in concer, vary from simple to difficult and can be programmed in groups of two to six.

Musical FeaturesThe first study, Andantino in D Major, consists of a static 2/4 eighth, triplet, eighth, eighth rhythm throughout with a three or four voice chord followed by a broken triplet rhythm resolving to the second beat. The final eighth forms a chord or simple pickup note which then resolves into the next measure.

The second study, in F Major, is more contrapuntal in style. There are several modulations within the piece involving simple chromatic alterations to include C, G and E major tonalities. This Allegro Moderato study is again in 2/4. In contrast to the first study, this one has much rhythmic interest and includes grace notes and trills. The third study, again in 2/4, now back to Andantino, is in A flat major,. There are a few grace notes and is mostly eighth with some 16th and dotted 16th and 32nd figures. The first half of the piece repeats.
Technical FeaturesThe first etude includes mostly open voiced chord structures while the second etude is mostly closed voicing within the moving contrapuntal lines. The third etude has a mixture of both open and closed voiced chords. All three studies lie within the bottom three octave range of a 4.3 octave marimba.
