A challenging and musical three-movement snare drum solo.The "Palindrome" includes a motif of two pairs of accents followed by three accents which ignores the retrograde and grows more prominent as the etude progresses.

In this four-movement work, the composer creates good music with a practical number of instruments. The performer will need to pay close attention to detail and to subtlety of nuance.

'Four Grotesques for Timpani' expands the range of sound produced by four timpani (playing with four marimba mallets, playing on cymbals and crotales inverted on the drums) in music that is rhythmically challenging and melodically interesting.
