New Music from KPP

My Favorite Things
(Richard Rodgers, arr. Andrea Venet)

Venet: My Favorite Things (EX)

Escape X Percussion Duo has breathed new life into this classic from "The Sound Of Music" with this new arrangement from Andrea Venet. This version for marimba and vibraphone duo honors the original while incorporating some of Escape X’s “favorite things,” like almglocken and pitched metal bells.

Three Winter Impressions
(Leander Kaiser)

This composition written for

Kaiser: Three Winter Impressions

two marimbas musically depicts three different winter impressions. The piece, through its three movements, evokes imagery of both fluid and frozen water, a landscape with ice trees, and a wild blizzard.

Miceli: Water Marks

Water Marks

(Tony Miceli)

Written on a flight while traveling to Asia, Miceli wanted to compose a difficult yet lyrical piece for solo vibraphone. The resulting Water Marks is so named because it is reminiscent of drops of rain splashing as they fall into a puddle.

Clear Midnight
(Michael Burritt)
Venet: Nannou
Titled after the Walt Whitman poem, Burritt wrote Clear Midnight for the Escape X Percussion Duo to showcase their dynamic virtuosity. Although it’s a marimba duet, it includes various percussion instruments including concert toms and ribbon crashers.

Sarcich: Sonata For Solo Side Drum

Ida/Some Of These Days Medley
(Munson/Leonard/Brooks, arr. Jon Singer)

The inaugural work of “The Jonathan Singer Historical Xylophone Publication Series”, Singer transcribes a 1920’s recording of Billy Gladstone playing this medley with the Capitol Theatre Orchestra and arranges it for solo xylophone with marimba band accompaniment.
